WYOMING

2018 Christmas

As 2018 came to a close, my family and I started planning our last trip of the year. We enjoy traveling during the holidays and like to close the year with one final trip and to celebrate my moms birthday. The previous two years we completed two Road Trips out West, but this year we wanted to pick somewhere we could relax and spend time outdoors. Living in Atlanta, Ga, we have just about every season in one day. Our weather has no rhyme or reason, so needless to say we wanted to travel somewhere that would really make us feel like we were experiencing Christmas.

We chose Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We stayed at the White Buffalo Club located in the heart of the little square in Jackson. It was the perfect place, we could step out of the door and walk a few blocks to all of the shops, restaurants, and beautifully lit square. It snowed 10 inches the first night we were there, making the landscape and town look like a white wonderland.

The second day we were there we went on a wildlife tour beginning at dawn to explore the Grand Teton National Park. It was one of the best experiences by far as our guide was able to take us directly to the places we wanted to see (without us driving around by ourselves trying to figure it out) saving us time and allowing us to fully experience the outdoors with ease. We we able to see all of the beauty of the Grand Tetons, museum overlooking the Elk Refuse, and go on a sleigh ride in the National Elk Refuge. We were able to see coyotes, moose, bald eagles, elk, bighorn sheep, and bison.

The third day we went on a snow mobile safari through Yellowstone National Park. It was an 8 hour intimate tour back into the park and to Brooks Lake Lodge where we had lunch. On the way back from the top of the mountain, it began to snow and was a white out. It was one of those incredible moments you see in movies, but x10000 times better. I couldn’t even capture it on camera, but its a moment I will never forget. The landscape was pure and you could only hear the wind whipping through the trees.

BEAUTIFUL doesn’t even begin to define this place. I see a summer trip in our near future. Stay tuned
